Hi Hadar, I tried it today and exactly that happened. Looked good first but came right off. So I am hot riveting with slip tomorrow! I only use accent silver when I absolutely have to. Will definitely try with sterling silver. Theoretically some kind of alloy should work! The trick is just to experiment without losing too much expensive silver....

Jenny,

I tried it with thick silver slip and at first it seemed to have bonded, but when I buffed it it came tight off. I haven't tried it with sterling. If you do, try firing in carbon at schedule C. I would love to know your results.

Hi Hadar,

What happens if you coat only one side of a copper piece with fine silver slip, that is, if you just coat and don't create a hot rivet? Does it still stick(theoretically it shouldn't bond!)? I tried this once but with a ridiciously thin layer and it just disappeared. What about with sterling silver slip? I resorted to using Accent silver for this purpose (which contains a soldering agent), but it would be interesting to hear if you have tried something else, if you just want to coat one side of the piece.
Thanks

Have you gotten any farther with your experiments with inlaying silver in copper without hot rivets? Not that you've had time with all the other experimenting you've been doing!!

It was great learning from you and sharing this experience with the Metal Heads. I am hard at work using your product for an upcoming competition. I will send you pics once complete. I did experiment with including a brass screw and it did fire and then release from the copper just fine.

I look forward to learning more from you in the future!
